Bill Gates: Money Can't Buy Me Love

Bill Gates, Microsoft Microsoft CEO Bill Gates has been in my mind for quite a while, I have hated his capitalistic business structure, especially here living in India where an operating system could cost many people their monthly salaries.

The starter edition was a bunch of horse shit, but anyway, hes been winning me over. Lets start of with what got me to writing this article. I get this email from Aid India, that usually goes into my junk mail cause I had blocked it.

But im glad I check my junk mail cause I would not have come across this story otherwise. Here's a little piece of the story, Bill Gates caused a stir in Davos last month with his call for "creative capitalism." He pointed out that while capitalism is "responsible for the great innovations that have improved the lives of billions ... to harness this power so it benefits everyone, we need to refine the system."

That was the way Muhammad Yunus, the author of "Creating a World Without Poverty: Social Business and the Future of Capitalism," introduces his point stating, "I see traditional capitalism as a half-developed structure. It ignores the humanity within all of us. Moneymaking is an important part of humanity, but it is not the only part."

"Caring, concern, sharing, empathy – all of these aspects also must be considered when developing an economic framework that takes the whole person into account," Yunus won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for his work on micro credit. He introduces his point stating, "I see traditional capitalism as a half-developed structure. It ignores the humanity within all of us.

Let's take into effect the i'm campaign that Microsoft had started in March 2007. The i'm campaign is described below, every person using Windows Live Messenger can contribute towards a humanitarian cause.

Where the Money Goes
Now this is what you can call creative capitalism? Or is this twisted, I mean it tempts me to use windows live messenger which I haven't installed after formatting the PC. I think I will, Microsoft will make some more money no doubt but atleast there will be some contribution perhaps, I like Folding@home, but here Microsoft has donated $779,476.63 to these groups so far. If you already have Windows Live Messenger you might want to learn how to join this cause.

Heres a Video of How You WIll be Helping:

Now apart from this Bill Gates started the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the largest transparently operated charitable foundation in the world, founded by Bill and Melinda Gates in 2000 and doubled in size by Warren Buffett in 2006. Bill Gates at Hawvard

The primary aims of the foundation are, globally, to enhance healthcare and reduce extreme poverty, and, in the United States, to expand educational opportunities and access to information technology.

Recently Bill Gates has been Touring the US Campuses coaxing students not to drop out of the computer science stream and encouraging them with talks such as the desktop moving from on the desk to in the desk.

He also has an important piece of information to share with us about the future of Journalism and Internet Censorship, "I hope that readers will be willing to pay subscriptions or watch ads or things that will keep the high quality and breadth of journalism alive and (make it) even better than it is today." I think Bhavika and I would really appreciate the fact of someone so influential speaking openly about quality Journalism that is not really found in todays main stream media.

Three cheers for Bill Gates as he plans to quit Microsoft and work for his foundation full time in July this year!
