Labels: ,
Everyone knows Shakira for her moves, the way she sways and gyrates her hips. Recently I came across a 23 year old guy called DEzMO from Virginia, USA, who uploads videos of himself dancing like Shakira.

Here's DEzMo doing Shakira's - Hips Don't Lie.

I found him to be an extremely talented person and wanted to put his videos up here, I also wanted to get to know how and why he started doing this, so I contacted him and did manage to get an interview with him, so here goes!
DEzMO, the male ShakiraClyde: Hello DEzMO, are you a professional dancer?
DEzMO: No, I dance just for fun.

Clyde: Do you dance like any more artists or just Shakira?
DEzMO: I dance like Britney too, i like her moves but it takes much longer to do because she has so much choreography.

Clyde: So how long did it take you to imitate Shakira in one of her videos?
DEzMO: I would say 2 to 4 days.

Clyde: When and why did you start doing these dances?
DEzMO: Since they became famous, I've been there with them all this time. I'm a fan and I like dancing.

Clyde: Do you, study or work at the moment?
DEzMO: I study linguistics.

Clyde: Whats your plan for the future?
DEzMO: Finish college and try to get a job meanwhile

Clyde: Are you working on any more dance videos?
DEzMO: Yeah, Britney's GIMME MORE!

Clyde: What's your real name, and what does DEzMO mean?
DEzMO: My name is Walter Ruiz, Dezmo, means decimal point, though I like it when its written as DEzMO.

Here's DEzMo doing Shakira's - Whenever Wherever.

Quit My Job, Now I Blog Fulltime!

Labels: , ,
On October 25th I took a very big step in my life, I finally decided to quit the corporate slave system and get into blogging full time! Yes friends I gave up my job for something that brings be 7.5% of the income I used to earn, does not even make up for my expenses. But I am extremely happy, Flora2000 was a good learning experience and that's about it.

I got the companies sales up by 20% overall and the affiliate program up 300% - 400%, but they didn't shower me with any love. So now I have gotten into blogging full time and guess what, Google just decided to shower us with some love, our blogs Google PageRank just went up from 3 to 4 over the weekend while many seem to be complaining about a drop in page rank. Not only that our blog has set new records in terms of the amount of traffic generated in a month, amount of traffic generated in a single day as well as amount of revenue generated in a month.

This is just the beginning of things to come, in the next few months you are going to see an addition of a lot of interesting sections, you will get to see this happening real soon. The online games blog that I have started is picking up rather well. So wish me luck as I take this bold step into this ocean full of fish :)

One of the things that helped me make this decision is the speech I had read, given by Steve Jobs to the graduates of Standford University in 2005. Its called, "Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish," and then the dots will connect my friends.

You can watch the speech, when I read it youtube did not exist!

Indian Relief Fund Money Goes Missing

Labels: , , , , ,
I have always been hesitant to contribute money to any relief fund, which starts up in case of a natural disaster or calamity. There is no proof that the money you contribute is used for rehabilitation of the victims. I recently came across an article on BBC's website which proved the unaccountability of the Indian Government.

Mujibur Rehman, a chief laboratory technician with a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL) in Chhatisgarh, has filed a legal petition under the Right to Information (RTI) Act alleging that more than $3m donated to the Indian Prime Minister's fund for victims of natural calamities including the tsunami and the Kashmir earthquake have gone missing. Rehman argued that the funds have either been diverted or not deposited into the fund and instead has been kept by CIL.
Tsunami that Hit Southern Parts of IndiaThe petition further alleges that money collected for the 2001 Gujarat earthquake, the 1999 Kargil war between India and Pakistan, the Orissa cyclone, the 2004 Asian tsunami and the 2005 earthquake in Kashmir has gone missing. Surprisingly none of the Indian newspapers have reported on this matter or given any sort of information. It was BBC who has carried the real story. Indian newspapers only focus on redundant news like which celebrity went for which party, and who hooked up with who. That doesn't make any difference to our lives. It's news like these that make an impact.

Kashmir EarthquakeAccording to Rehman, "We are never asked. Whenever there is a natural calamity and the prime minister asks for donations, the management and unions mutually agree that a day's wages will be deducted for the relief fund."

An investigation by the Indian prime minister's office, at the direction of the chief information commissioner, revealed that the money was never received. However, the PM's office has refused to comment on this matter. For making such a brave move, Rehman said that his company is delaying his bonus and making attempts to transfer him to another state. It would be interesting to see the outcome of this campaign, because it's the hard-earned money of the common man which is at stake.

Bhavika's 25th Birthday Celebration

Labels: , , ,

It was Bhavika's Birthday yesterday, so both of us decided to leave early from work and spend some time together. I picked her up and we went to Worli Seaface to watch the Sunset.
The Beginning of the Sunset
Below you can see the construction of the Bandra Worli Sea Link.
Part of the Bandra Worli Sealink
I don't know how many of our readers actually appreciate nature or make the time to watch the sunset. I really feel its one of the most important things to respect and observe nature.
Sunset at Worli Seaface
The Sun, Sea & Rocks
The Sun's Burning up the SkyBefore we got to Worli, I sent Bhavika an ecard with a poem written especially for her. Its about us, our life together, the highs and the lows. Glad that it made her feel special, unfortunately I cannot share the poem with you. Although if Bhavika wants to share, she can put a couple of paras!
The Red Sun Calling
Waves Slashing against the RocksWe enjoyed watching the sun disappear below the horizon and the kaleidoscope of colors post sunset.

I love the way the setting sun leaves behind a trail of colours in the sky, what makes it even more beautiful is a patch of clouds.

Sun: See You Tomorrow
After watching the sunset we went for dinner to a restaurant called Out of the Blue, in Bandra (a suburb of Mumbai) for an amazingly spectacular meal!

What made it so special was that we got a Candle lit table, which was unexpected. Both of us had a smile on our face. Jazz music playing in the background added to the atmosphere. Let us take you through the meal.
Clyde and his Drink
I have been rather unwell and I was glad to find a drink called Hot Today, containing Brandy, Honey, Hot Water, Cloves and Cinnamon. It was good for my throat and cough.
Hot Today (Brandy, Honey, Hot Water, Cloves and Cinnamon)You can probably get a feel of the ambience with the glow of the candle on the wall.

Bhavika had two Tequila Margarita Classics and she seemed quite happy after that!

The table behind us was reserved, very well-decorated with a wine bottle, and a couple of extra candles, made it look beautiful.Out of the Blue Table
After a drink Clyde ordered for a Mushroom and Spinach soup for me to get better. The soup was a bit watery, and I also burnt my tongue. It was decent but I have had better Mushroom soups.Mushroom & Spinach Soup
We then had Charcoal grilled Cottage Cheese (Paneer) marinated in coriander, served with Jalapeno, Tomato & Capsicum. This was one of the best vegetarian appetizers I've eaten.
Cottage Cheese (Paneer) marinated in coriander, served with Jalapeno, Tomato & CapsicumBhavika had a sizzler for main course, BBQ Mushrooms Stuffed with Cheddar and Spinach, garnished with Rice, Sauteed Vegetables and French Fries.
Stuffed Mushroom Sizzler & Foster's Beer
I had Tiger Prawns served with mash potato, garnished with avocado, capsicum & baby corn.
Tiger Prawns with Mash PotatoThe service was top class, very prompt and the food was delicious! The restaurant is on the expensive side, but it's worth it!

After a heavy meal, it was time for deserts and there were lot of options to choose from. We had Mocha Swirl, which contains chocolate with white mousse and pieces of Orios cookies.

Bhavika says:

I turned 25 yesterday, I have lived for quarter of a century on this earth. Am I sounding too old, any way I had a great day. I was at work in the morning, couldn't take an off as there is lot of work. What made me happy was that people who I had lost touch with bothered to wish me, and that touched my heart. Besides, me and Clyde spent some quality time together. The poem was wonderful and the dinner was like icing on the cake. Perfect setting, mouth-watering food and deserts was simply phenomenal. Wish everyday was my birthday. Jokes apart, thanks for making me feel special, really appreciate that!

The astronauts will get to experience zero gravity for a couple of minutes. Each flight will carry two pilots and tourists will have to undergo a three-day training under micro gravity situation to get accustomed to space situation. However, flights will start at the end of 2009. Virgin Galactic has already trained about a 100 people who are in queue to fly into space in the company's SpaceShips 1 & 2.

Located approx 100 km from Mumbai, Karjat is a peaceful retreat for everyone who wants to get away from the daily madness of urban life. Karjat lies on the banks of river Ulhas with Sahyadri, Western Ghats surrounding this district.

There are several farm houses and hotels here. In fact when I first went to Karjat 2-3 years ago, there were only a few hotels, but since then there has been a major surge and development in this small district. The clean environment, scenic landscape and isolation it provides, has made Karjat our favorite weekend getaway.

We've always discovered something different and new on our every visit. Be it plants, trees, birds or flowers, Karjat is a nature lover's delight.A Massive Indian Frog
