Top Ten Things to do in India:
1) Go for a boat ride along the sacred Ganges in Varanasi early morning to see the sunrise, get there before the stars are gone. Sunrise is a magical time for a ride as lot of Hindus come to the ghats to take their holy bath and start the day. That sure is a very famous sight of India.
2) Wildlife safari to Sunderbans, which is home to the Bengal Tigers. It is the largest Tiger Reserve and National Park in India, and it is also the only place where mighty Bengal Tigers are found!
3) Want to see Paradise on Earth? Go trekking to Valley of Flowers. Nestled in the upper reaches of Garhwal, Uttarakhand amidst snow-capped mountains and swarmed with over 500 species of flowers, this place is as good as it gets. I can guarantee that if you visit this place once, you will feel like coming back every year.4) Camel Safari in Rajasthan - Its a real adventure and an amazing way to experience the vibrant and colourful Thar Desert. Imagine sleeping on the sand under a star-lit sky, you will enjoy every bit of it. Besides, Rajasthan is also a place to shop for ethnic art and craft items, which are very intricately carved and colourful.
5) Experience the Backwaters of Kerala. There is much more than Kovalam. Popularly known as God's Own Country, Kerala offers a combination of various activites. You can go river-cruising, or trekking, or a nature trip in the rainforests, it is a lovely abode.
6) Visit the waterfalls of Meghalaya in North-east India. The place is blessed with numerous waterfalls with mesmerizing surroundings. In fact the major part of North-East is worth a visit as its untouched and divine. Dzukou Valley in Nagaland, which reminds me of Valley of Flowers, is an enchanting valley filled with wild flowers. North-East India is definitely in our list of places to travel!
7) You can't travel in India without going in local transport. Be it local trains in Mumbai, or Tuk Tuks in rural India, it's all part of feeling the true pulse of the country. For instance a road trip from Manali to Leh is scintillating either on your bike or jeep!
8) Diversity is also found in Indian food. If in Delhi or Northern parts of India make sure you try stuffed parathas (Indian bread), tandoori chicken or any of the Moghlai food. Any where in India you must try the local food of that particular region, am sure it will be a lip-smackng experience.
9) Ride around on a Moped in Hampi and experience the mystical temple town and its beautiful sunsets. You might end up discovering newer places, as the monuments are scattered all around Hampi. Trust me, its truly enjoyable. 10) Last but definitely not the least, visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World - Taj Mahal in Agra. An architectural splendour built by the Mughuls, Taj is generally on every traveler's list. No debating its popularity around the world.
I couldn't include several other places or things which one can do in India, so if you have anything in mind drop a comment!

I had never even thought of visiting India until I read your wonderful list with those fabulous photographs! This is a great post, I enjoyed reading it very much.
Might sound like a completely needless gripe, but Goa doesn't figure anywhere on your Top Ten list? :-(
HEY !
THis is pablo the "mexican voice"
I still read your blog, I really enjoy it. Please continue so that i get inspired and make me wanna go back to INDIA
I would add Ladakh. I was there this October, and the place is simply extra ordinary. Do not miss Pangong Tso, on the border with China. One of the most remote locations in all of India, and possibly in all the world.
Thank you all for posting your thoughts.
Karen - You should visit India, there are mant more places to see and enjoy!
Arnold - Yes, I was thinking of probably removing Taj Mahal and including Goa...coz the government isn't really taking care of its architecture, but Goa isn't how it use to be.
Pablo, my friend it was nice to see you posting comment, hope to see you again in India soooon.
Sanjay - Yes Leh & Ladakh definitely, i think I might have to expand the list:)
Arnold we dont want any more people going to Goa and ruining it even more. So we left it out so the Goans can claim it theirs again :)
Sanjay I still have to make a trip to Leh, Ladakh, I would probably end up going there in a while and stay there for a month or two.
I hate the Taj Mahal factor, I have seen it with my own eyes and I am extremly disappointed with how we have maintained this heritage structure.
Its something that the entire country voted for but no one in the country is willing to open their eyes, see and realize its not beautiful anymore.
You always have beautiful pics on this blog. The one of the Bengal Tiger (my very favourite animal) is amazing. I've never thought of visiting India before either...not that I like travelling but you have made it sound like a worthwhile country to see.
claire come over :) it is beautiful!
so glad to know about the unexplored north eastern waterfalls
sure of making a trip at ur instigation
At the risk of sounding biased ( I am from the North-East) may I also add that there are some other very interesting things to see and do that not too many people know of. The NE is home to numerous tribes, each with their unique culture. Its also blessed with amazing natural beauty. There is some amazing wildlife and birdwatching to do.
