We were experimenting with an innovative service provided by The Newsroom, where you get paid for embedding their videos, articles and images on your blog or site. We tried their service for two months, and though Bhavika feels the revenue it has generated to be quite dismaying, I think its pretty good to get paid just for views.
We have embedded 4 videos from Newsroom so far, they got 130 views and we have made US $0.50. Well, I was quite impressed with the content on their site which is from AFP, Reuters, BBC etc., but if the revenue is going to be so low then it only makes more sense for publishers with high amounts of traffic. We would either have to market the videos or use more newsroom content.
They also pay you for using their text and images, maybe we should try incorporating that as well! The only problem about news room is that they do not have a full fledged referral program yet. The current one that works is if someone embeds the video from the embed button on the video above. Which I think is highly unlikely!
Recently we came across a new way to monetize blogs, WidgetBucks. If you notice the widget on the right hand side just under the two happy shiny bloggers picture.
It features pay-per-click shopping widgets that help make money faster than Google Adsense. They display the most popular products based on buying trends of 100 million shoppers, you have a range of widgets to display and select the color. Unfortunately you can't put in the color code to get the identical color yet.

We came across good points about the widgetbucks bot that looks up your sites content and places relevant ads, called MerchSense. So far it hasn't yet kick started on our blog. I think I may have to regenerate a fresh widget.
Though some people feel that widgetbucks with their 30k Publishers, 200 Million Impressions and high pay out rate are gonna go broke. I feel that widgetbucks has struck upon a brilliant marketing idea. What they could do is tie up with good converting affiliate program. If you notice the widgetbuck advertisement, it shows you the product a little bit of the details and the best price you can get it at.
An advertisement which has a higher probability of an interested customer to buy, say widgetbucks gets ten clicks and 2 people buy. They make a nice affiliate commission the ten people get a good earning for their clicks, widgetbucks is happy, the webmasters and bloggers are happy we are all happy! There seems to be an exception for Widgets Displaying Lingerie, the hot woman get more clicks than other widgets, thank the perverts for giving you additional income, BTW I would click too if I were in the mood!Now if this case scenario is true, widgetbucks would make their first payments in the month of December! How Much Money through Widgetbucks?
Well here's the good one, 3 clicks on adsense = 1 click on widgetbucks for my statistics yesterday. So, that's what you can expect, we got $0.28 a click on widgetbucks. Now that may not be much but people have got up to $0.50 per click, now that's not bad at all.What's even better is they are paying you $25 when you sign up for widgetbucks! We got our $25 added to our account and are on our way to meet the $50 paypal payment threshold! What are you waiting for?
