After the recent updates that Google's social networking site Orkut went through. Like the integration of it with Gtalk, Orkut has been down for over 6 hours.

Will post back with the new features Orkut has incorporated or if they aren't any we know Google's being going through some downtime.

On the Social Networking Front

I use Myspace and Orkut as my two major social network sites. Orkut because it helped me find a lot of long-lost friends and Myspace because there a whole lot of cool people there.

If you have not yet begun to drive traffic to your blog or sites with the help of these social networking sites, then you are loosing out on a major market.

Take a look at Walmart on Myspace Make the most of it while the buzz lasts. The walmart page was later removed by myspace.

One of the recent unique Indian social networking sites that I have come across is Yo4Ya.com


Yo4Ya is a social networking site made by Indians for Indians. It has a variety of features built into it that are not prevalent in networking sites like Myspace, but what third party service providers such as Pimp Myspace provides such as themes.

Yo4ya like Orkut is based on an Invite only module, which makes it a safer network where one friend invites another.

So I was right Google's social networking portal suffered a major amount of downtime, at least 10 hours. But they do have a little surprise for people.

Orkut is no longer a closed network. It is wide open now for anyone who has a Google account to sign up.
